Bienvenue au Moyen Jardin!

Children in the Moyen Jardin are learning to become part of the community. They are forming strong bonds with their classmates and enjoying exploring all areas of the classroom with their friends. During work time, also known as free play, children can be seen building elaborate structures in the block corner, “cooking” delicious meals in the socio-dramatic area or painting a beautiful work of art with watercolors.

Throughout the day, the children are exposed to a wide variety of stimulating and enriching activities carefully planned by their teachers. Large-group, small-group, and individual activities alternate to provide teachers with the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with the children while also offering the children opportunities to explore a broader classroom dynamic. During lesson time, children work with their teachers in smaller group settings. For instance, some children might be learning how to trace the uppercase letters in their cahier d’écriture (writing notebook), while others could be gluing feathers on the letter F!

Thematic units are used to illustrate the Moyen Jardin curriculum. The following is an example of concepts that were explored while learning about Space!
