A Richer Kind of Preschool Academics

TBC is joyful, but not casual. We believe young children are capable of understanding far more than they are often given credit for, especially when they are actively involved in the learning experience.

French From the Beginning

Young children are uniquely open to language. At TBC, French is introduced naturally through songs, stories, routines, and interactive lessons.

Children often begin by understanding French before they speak it, then gradually start using words and phrases on their own. Early exposure helps children develop listening skills, pronunciation, and cultural awareness at an age when language learning feels completely natural.

My daughter comes home using French words and singing songs in both French and English. She loves learning about other countries through the 'journeys around the world' program and is super proud of her 'travels' & 'passport.'  She is teaching our family things about other cultures and customs along with teaching me basic French.  She is working hard to teach me the proper 'accent.' Clearly, learning French at a young age is ideal because she has picked it up so easily!

A Window Into the Wider World

TBC's French-American identity and international community give children an early sense that the world is larger than their own daily experience. Through cultural celebrations, family traditions, and monthly journeys to countries around the world, older children travel as real explorers do, collecting passport stamps and discovering the geography, art, food, traditions, and daily life of places far beyond their own backyard, developing genuine curiosity and respect for people and places beyond themselves.

Teddy Bear Club is a bilingual French-English preschool serving children ages 21 months to 5 years old at our campuses in Newton and Lincoln, MA. Founded more than 30 years ago, TBC offers school-year and summer programs in a warm, structured, and thoughtfully designed early childhood environment.

Our program includes early academics, French language, creative arts, outdoor play, and global learning, with classrooms organized by age and developmental stage.

Teddy Bear Club was an absolutely wonderful experience for our family. Both my daughters attended, and it gave them, and us, the structure and confidence for a successful start to kindergarten.

The teachers create a loving, nurturing, and deeply professional environment, and the exposure to a new language and culture was such a gift.

Even now, my daughter in first grade says how much she misses TBC’s teachers, classes, and playground, every time we drive by. It really speaks to how special this school is.
